Chapter One What is Interpersonal Communication? 1.       Interpersonal communication is the process of sharing thoughts, feelings, and information with one another. At the core of this process are the two elements of message sending and message reception ; however, interpersonal communication goes beyond a superficial exchange of “hellos,” referring to both the content and the quality of the message, and how we can develop and/or strengthen relationships from the messages we share. 2.       Interpersonal communication can take place with or without words.
